Nakskov (Denmark)

Nakskov sugar factory (Denmark)

When the Nakskov sugar factory was built in southern Denmark in 1882, it could process 300 tonnes of sugar beet per day. This made the factory one of the largest sugar producing plants in northern Europe at the time. Even today, the Nakskov factory is one of Nordic Sugar's largest beet processing plants. Around 100 staff are employed at the factory and joined by another 40 temporary staff during the campaign. The factory produces sugar for the food industry, and molasses and animal feed.
