We produce around 1.9 million tonnes of sugar in Europe, which is sold to numerous European food producers and other customers.
We sell well of 80 per cent of our sugar in bulk or in large containers, primarily to the food and drink industry. Our liquid sugar products account for around ten per cent of this turnover. To respond optimally to our customers’ needs and requirements, we formulate our high quality crystalline and liquid sugar products specifically for our clients’ precise demands. The highest-turnover product for our industrial clients is bulk sugar in a range of grain sizes.

Our international brand “SweetFamily” has been setting the standard in the European retail sector since autumn 2004. It enhances the recognition of our products in Germany, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Around 15 per cent of the sugar we sell in Germany is in the end user segment.
Our classic product “fine sugar” boasts especially strong sales. The range of specialities includes products for baking, jam making and hot drinks.

Every part of the sugar beet is put to use in the sugar production process. The dried pulp of the beet is a high quality animal feed in its own right, as well as being an important ingredient in the production of concentrated feed, e.g. for ruminants. The dry sugar beet pellets are sold worldwide. The marketing of the dry pellets is strongly dependent on the cereal and feed markets. The proportions of the separate ingredients for the production of concentrated feed vary depending on the market prices.
Molasses is an important by-product of the beet sugar extraction process. It still has a sugar concentration of around 50 per cent, and is used to improve the nutritional content of feed by mixing it directly with dry pellets, or sold to the yeast and alcohol industry, or to feed manufacturers. Another area of application has opened up with the start of bioethanol production at the Klein Wanzleben factory scheduled for 2007. The market for sugar beet molasses is dependent on the imports of cane sugar molasses, e.g. from Pakistan and India.
Ambrosia bee feed is a high quality special feed for honey producers. This niche product for beekeepers is ideal for feeding and caring for bees during a range of development phases.
