Environmental guidelines

Our commitment to quality across the board, and high standards of environmental protection are reflected in our environmental guidelines.

The Nordzucker environmental guidelines

  1. With our management system, we ensure that environmental protection is specified and implemented in the operative functions.
  2. We pledge to comply with all of the relevant legislation, to save resources, and to avoid or reduce environmental impacts.
  3. We co-operate with authorities and associations such as BDI, VdZ, and CEFS1 on environmental protection matters, and engage in active dialogue with the general public should problems arise. In this context, we have a right to a fair hearing and to compete on an equal playing field at a national and European level. We also advocate acceptance for the position that industry should be self-governing.
  4. We produce and market our products in the most environmentally compatible way. We integrate our suppliers, hauliers and customers within our activities to enhance environmental protection.
  5. We are committed, in close co-operation with our beet farmers, to ensuring that our raw material, sugar beet, satisfies all the specifications required for sustainable cultivation.
  6. We inform our employees on all of the environmental aspects affecting our company, and motivate them to act in an environmentally compatible manner. This is achieved through various measures including training and advanced training. To strengthen the continuous improvement process, we actively involve our employees through the Nordzucker Brain Pool and quality team activities.
  7. We issue an annual environmental programme for all of our factories including specific targets and deadlines.
  8. We require our factories to submit periodical reports on the status of their environmental protection with the aim of identifying weaknesses and arranging the necessary measures.

All employees are obliged to act in accordance with the Nordzucker Corporate Policy, the Environmental Guidelines and the Product Safety Guidelines.
